For our first task we had to choose a comic strip we were going to use and edit to our own comic strip. Liam and I chose the Mary Worth comic strip as we thought it was funny and more entertaining. Our edit of Mary Worth was fairly long so in that aspect i would not change anything, although if i had the oppurtunity to do it again i would have had a voice over of the dialogue by me and Liam.
Camera :
In our edit of Mary Worth we had only one basic camera movement which was panning. This we used because some strips were too big for just a still shot so we had to pan across from one side to the other. Me and Liam did encouter a problem with the tripod and the camera at first, the camera didn't fasten on top of the tripod properly and was very shakey and it was hard to keep it from shaking whilst panning across.
Dialogue :
Mary Worth did have dialogue already with the comic strip. These were the lyrics to a blakc eyed peas song. Liam and I then decided to create our own dialogue by using the lyrics from a well known Tinie Tempah song "Frisky". I feel that this gives me and Liam more depth as we explored the task more.
Uploading to Youtube :
i found the uploading of my video to youtube reasonably easy as i already had a youtube account. It was a fairly quick process although first time round it had encounted an error whilst transfering it to youtube, but second time round it was fine.
Transfering it from youtube to my blog :
This was an easy process al we had to do was copy the embeded code form the youtube video and post it in the HTML box in the new post section this took no time at all and we had no problems what so ever.
This is a Eastenders trailer from Christmas 2009. i chose this because it had many conventions i would of liked to include in my soap trailer.
The mise en scene in this particular trailer is about Archie. All people that are linked with him . (Peggy, Roxie) This creates the effect that many people are involved with Archies life.
Our planning went well for our preliminary task went well. We first off found a soap we could use and we used Eastenders when alfie was in the cafe. We used this because it was a generally easy place to find and re-shoot. We also chose this scene because it didnt have many characters in it.
I played the role Micheal and josh played the role Alfie. We had Kate playing Cat and Adam was an extra. After this we then nominated scott to be the main director for this task. alothough in our main task we all would have to operate the camera.
Next we chose our location for the cafe. We chose the staff room because it looked the most like a cafe and had a few people in so it set the scene well. This created a good mise en scene for our soap.
Fliming :
overall i think the filiming went rather well due to the fact we did a couple of lines of the scene at a time. the only problem we had was being in the same postion when we restarted for example where our arms were etc.
Research :
i feel that BBC One would be an ideal chanel to show our soap, as they already have soaps, for example Waterloo road and eastenders, showing on there chanel, so they already have an audience. Our soap has a young cast which is very similar to waterloo road which means that they will have our target audience already watching their chanel. i also feel that Chanel 4 have the same issue with Hollyoaks. They have a very young cast as well and already have my target audience tuning in to their chanel. Either one of these chanels would be ideal for my soap to be shown on.
Audience :
My target audience for my soap will be the younger generation due to my cast is young and they could relate to the story and the issues ive brought up in my soap.
